ART OF THE DAY: Peter Greaves
by Michael P. on Sep.30, 2011, under Art of the Day, Artists, Peter Greaves

I just had some guy come through the gallery, look at this drawing, then look at the price tag, laugh, and ask– “What’s up with this?” To which I went into a little schpeel explaining how it’s a very skillfully executed drawing, as opposed to the photo he assumed it was. We had an “A-ha!” moment, then shook hands, and everything was suddenly right with the world for a few seconds. Peter Greaves is an incredible draftsman to such a degree that his technical mastery becomes becomes difficult to comprehend, rendering him a character that is seemingly inhuman. I assure you– he’s definitely human, and a super nice guy who can’t eat gluten. This tiny little drawing is on the wall right now. Come by this weekend to check it out in person. It’s stunning.
