For the first time in the ten years of Arcadia Gallery’s existence, we are curating a themed group show.  Flora Abunda opens July 7th during the height of summer, and features a great selection of our key artists making work that references flowers in some form or fashion.  Jeremy Lipking, who has is one busy and asked about guy, has delivered a straight forward take on the floral still life genre.  While the composition is incredibly simple, take note of the range of complex textures, and opacities throughout the painting.  It takes a lot of work to make something look so effortless.

At least once a day, someone asks me– When is the next Jeremy Lipking show? To which I reply– 2013.  This is where I see a pained look on that person’s face and I have to assuage the longing in their pained hearts.  After a pretty quiet year for Lipking following his 2011 exhibition, he emerged with this massive museum quality masterwork that is an incredible milestone for contemporary figurative painting.  It was on display in California for a few months, and it just arrived this week at Arcadia.  Anyone in the area needs to stop by and give this thing some serious face time.  Even the frame is impressive.  No word on how long it will be here, so don’t put this one off, folks.

Morning Light

Jeremy Lipking has been showing with us for quite sometime now and for a good reason, he’s the best.  He understands the subtleties of color and darkness, both thematically and visually.  The above painting we recently brought with us to the San Francisco Art Fair.

You don’t know how many artists come into the gallery to see his work specifically.  Artists know that to truly see the movement of brush strokes and fluidity of paint application you must see Lipking’s work in person.

It has been a super busy past few days at the gallery. We’re preparing for the upcoming #AronWiesenfeld show, while also getting ready to ship a bunch of paintings to the San Francisco Art Fair. So, I’m going to pick up where I left off with the whole Arcadia Archives Transparency thing I’ve been going with all week. Here is another classic Lipking painting from 2003. Enjoy!

Here is day three of revealing some selections from Arcadia Gallery’s transparency archives.  Today brings a great old school Jeremy Lipking painting from his very first one man show with us in 2003.  This is an impressive piece from a 27 year old painter whose work looks like he could have been showing in 1903.

Spring is officially in the air– what better piece to summarize that than Jeremy Lipking’s “Spring Figure”?  This was the large scale center piece from his 2008 show in Los Angeles.  A signature portrait of his wife Danielle, this painting displays an incredible array of textures and masterful technique.  Each aspect of the painting is approached with equal consideration— the patterns on the dress, the bark of the tree, the leaves, her sandles…. This level of focus is one of the many things that sets Lipking apart as a painter.  Anyways, go enjoy the spring.

Arcadia Gallery returns tho the Annual event of the east end, ArtHamptons 2010. With new works from Malcolm Liepke, Jeremy Lipking, Michael Klein, Michael Chapman, Joseph Todorovitch and many more. This year, ArtHamptons will include 80 Galleries from around the world in a 50,000 square foot air conditioned tent.

Jeremy Lipking‘s One Man Exhibition just opened this Thursday (June 10, 2010) at Arcadia Gallery in New York City.  Thanks to everyone for coming out to show support and enjoy some great new work.  The entire show is on our Totally Redesigned New Website in the Current Exhibition section at the top of the screen.
