ART OF THE DAY: Paul Raymond Seaton

We’re doing all of our last minute primping and packing for the Boston International Fine Art show opening Thursday night. We leave first thing tomorrow morning to set up the show. One of the key pieces we’re bringing is this instant classic from Paul Raymond Seaton. It’s the largest piece he’s ever shown in the U.S. and a quintessential example of his work– soft lighting, complimented by subtle brushwork, and a mastery of middle values. It appears as though Boston has a certain affinity for timeless floral still life works, and Seaton not only fits the bill– he sets the bar. We will have a classy little grouping of his stuff on display.

Paul Raymond Seaton is easily one of the finest contemporary floral still life painters. His work is like that of a modern Henri Fantin-Latour with his sophisticated pallet, and romantic vision of his subjects. An avid gardener, Seaton spends as much time painting flowers as he does tending to his own garden. He is a man immersed in his passions.
