January is always a weird month in New York. All of the brilliant colors of the holiday season systematically disappear and emphasize the fact that all the greens of nature are long gone, making way for a lot of grey. One MAJOR perk of the month, however, is the fact that the majority of our artists rally some great new works together for the annual Los Angeles Art Show. There is no other time of year that we receive such a concentration of new, great work from just about EVERYONE we represent. So, it seems like a pretty great time to get back online and show you folks what we’re all about.

Robert Liberace is certainly a fan favorite. The guy exhales and leaves behind great academic figure renderings. The skill, and knowledge behind his work is definitely admirable, but I think what keeps us all fawning over his work is the effortlessness behind every stoke. No one else makes being a total master of anatomy look so easy. Here is a new piece that is on its way out to Los Angeles right now. It’s just a taste of what is to come from his next one man exhibition on the way in May 2012… Stay tuned!!!

Having seen plenty of great figure paintings removed from Facebook for nudity, I thought I should play it safe and keep the majority of this post on our blog.  Here is a detail of a great Robert Liberace painting from years past.   No need to awaken the fury of Mark Zuckerberg– however, if he wants to buy a painting, he can easily find us on Facebook….

For all of you Liberace fans out there, check out that great use of warm and cool colors to build form.  His color use is always admirable, and his description of anatomy is second to none.

Check out this great new figure painting from Robert Liberace for the upcoming San Francisco Art Fair opening May 20th.  This is the first new piece from Liberace since the LA Art Show in January, and it’s the first large scale piece since his 2010 show.  Enjoy!

Welcome to Day 2 of dipping into the Arcadia archives.  Today I want to showcase a great drawing from Robert Liberace that features his signature multiple figures illustrating action.  Liberace is an incredible draftsman as well as a reputable master of anatomy, and this piece really puts his skills on display.  Check it out:

Robert Liberace is amazing. We debuted 9 brand new pieces of his at the Los Angeles Art Fair, and they all sold. Here is one of those brilliant little pieces called “Stride.”

Robert Liberace is master of human anatomy.  After his one man show with us last March, Rob has shown us all that he is a truly talented painter, profound teacher,  and all around nice guy.  He continues to impress  us all with these new works that just arrived in the gallery earlier this weekend.  These two new works will be on display at our booth at the Art Hamptons fair, which opens Thursday July 8th.

Robert Liberace opened his one man show last Saturday (3/13) here at Arcadia Gallery in Soho.  Collectors, fellow artists, and fans came out to witness a one of a kind drawing demo by Rob in the gallery.  Pictures from the event continue below…

Julio Reyes @ the Arcadia booth with American Art Collector editor Amy Elliot

Julio Reyes was one of the many artists whose work was featured at our booth this month at the Los Angeles Art Show 2010.  We received a bunch of new work for the art fair, most of which is posted below.

The show this year was at the LA Convention Center for the second year in a row, a marked improvement from the previous years spent at The Barker Hangar.  Response this year was great, as there were lots of red dots scattered throughout the booth.  Collectors seemed enthusiastic to be collecting again.

Joseph Todorovitch stopped by the booth for a while.  He brought in a significant amount of new work including a piece called “Succulents” that he is submitting for the 2009/2010 Portrait Society of America competition.  We are eagerly looking forward to his upcoming show with us in October 2010.  Todorovitch also had a piece in a group show that same weekend called Who Killed The Music, which was curated by Will.I.Am, which also featured a new piece from Jeremy Lipking.
